LIfe & Death

I am getting better. This has just been a weird summer. Too cool and too much rain.

One of my sheep died on Monday. He was the youngest, probably less than 8 years old. He wasn't real bright even for a sheep. I think he may have been the one that was trapped against the barn lot fence during the 6/7 flood. He didn't want to eat on Sunday. My neighbor thinks it was the heat. The woolies still have their wool because it has been too wet to shear. I don't know. He was never really robust either. One of the hair sheep isn't too chipper either. I have hay now. There is nothing like hay to make you feel rich and poor at the same time. It smells so good in the barn.

I think maybe FSA inspected the fence this week. I hope so. Of course, I am really low on $$ now. I took Fly to the vet because he has blood in his urine. She didn't find anything, yet. He got everything done except having his tires rotate and his oil changed. So, 300+ lighter I came home with some antibiotics. I don't like using antibiotics, but I guess they have their place. FSA does a 75/25 loan. I could handle that. I just want to get the fence up!

Anyway, I am a bit happier. Things will get better.

I'm tired. I'm tired of the farm, I'm tired of the rain, I am tired of struggling to get fields cut for hay, I'm tired of trying to find hay, and I'm tired of the good ole' boys. I hate their condescening tone because I am a woman. I have hung up on 2 of them in the past week. I needed an estimate to have my pasture fence fixed and the man was acting like he had the job and was telling me how busy he is and it would be 2 months blaah blaah blaah. All I wanted was an estimate! Next was a guy I wanted to buy some hay from because the sheep are in the barn lot and have no grass. He too, was busy. He started that good ole' boy BS and I hung up on him. If I had wanted it today I would have called yesterday or last week. I know people are busy. So, I guess the sheep will starve. I could put them in the backyard, but knowing them they would leave the grass and eat the flowers and tomatoes. I may just do it though in the evening amd put them back in the barn lot in the day. That is just one more chore for me to do before I leave for work. Imagine how that would torque the corgis seeing sheep in their backyard and they can't get to them.

I am just tired and discouraged. We flooded twice on Saturday. Once in the morning and once again in the night. Please God lighten up with this rain. Send somewhere where it is really needed.

Updates

I am getting depressed. Sure, I have water now, but the place is still a wreck. I got an estimate on the fence. It is almost half of what I paid for it. I still need an estimate on the Trailblazer. The sump pump still needs replaced. This is all on top of the fact the the house is all torn up because I was getting ready to lay down laminate flooring and paint

I can't find any hay. I can't find anyone to come out and cut hay. The sheep are starving. I need to call Tyler and see if he will take them to market. I let Diana know that I am still interested in her sheep. I hope to get them this month.

Hopefully, by the end of summer the farm will be close to normal. All I want is some normalcy.
